Who We Are
Teaching Philosophy
Joy You Yoga is a community-focused yoga and movement programme supporting older adults to stay active, mobile and confident.
Our classes combine accessible yoga, mobility, strength, balance and mindful movement — adapting the practice to the individual, while creating a welcoming space to move and connect together.
At Joy You Yoga, we believe yoga should adapt to the person, not the other way around.
Our functional approach focuses on accessible movement that supports mobility, strength, balance and everyday confidence.
With options for different abilities, students are encouraged to move at their own pace in a gentle, non-judgemental environment.
From a Class to a Community
Joy You Yoga began with small-group classes, but over time, something more grew around the practice.
Students came not only to move, stretch and build strength, but also to share conversations, encouragement and everyday moments.
Somewhere along the way, a class became a community.
Real Stories from Our Community

“I never really liked yoga — but Olivia’s way of teaching made me want to keep coming back.”
Earlier this year, Vicky was experiencing severe pain in her legs and knees that made walking difficult.
After around four months of attending Chair Yoga and Chair Stretching twice a week, she noticed meaningful changes in her everyday movement. She can now walk comfortably, squat down again, and has even returned to teaching dance at her church.
What began as one class a week gradually became two - even though yoga was never something she thought she would enjoy.

“Even once a week, I could feel that I was making progress.”
Ada joined Chair Yoga hoping to ease some stiffness and stay active.
Even without practising much between classes, she began to notice small but meaningful changes from attending once a week. Her body felt more relaxed, and with each little improvement came more confidence.
She especially valued being able to learn in a patient, non-judgemental environment, without worrying about doing something “wrong”.

“I thought yoga would be too difficult for me — but this class was different.”
Before joining, Ah Sheung worried that yoga would involve getting down on the floor, sitting cross-legged or doing movements that would be difficult for her to manage.
She was surprised to find a class genuinely designed with older adults in mind, using a chair and accessible ways to move.
Although the practice felt gentle, she still noticed meaningful changes — including being able to squat down to put on her shoes and tie her shoelaces more comfortably.
For her, it was a reminder that movement can be both gentle and effective.
